Premiums

Premiums are the prize money placements earn. Once results are published, this screen tallies what every exhibitor is owed and runs the payout.

The tally

A per-exhibitor total: every placement they earned, the premium each carries, and the sum.

Because ties each take the full premium and household suppression happens before ranking, the tally already reflects the rules — it is not a starting point you then adjust by hand.

Exhibitors can donate their premium back to the fair. Many do, particularly in youth divisions, and asking for it is worth real money to a fair board.

Donated-back premiums are recorded as such rather than simply zeroed, so the fair can see what was given and thank people for it.

The payout run

A mass payout run settles everybody at once. Supported today:

  • Check — with a generated check list to hand to whoever writes them
  • Cash — for the fairs that pay out at a window
  • Transfer by record — you move the money and record it here

Every payout is recorded against the exhibitor with the method, the date, and the amount, so the following year's questions have an answer.

The check list

The check-list CSV is the practical output for most fairs: exhibitor, address, amount, in a file your treasurer can work from directly.

Still to come

Direct electronic payment to exhibitors is not yet available. Paying an individual out is a different Stripe product from the card-payment rails the rest of the product runs on, and it is planned rather than shipped.

Today the money movement is yours; the tally, the donate-back handling, the record, and the check list are the product's.

After the payout

Payout history stays on the exhibitor record across seasons — the season reset clears entries, not people.
