Service Fees
Named, reusable charges you attach to invoices instead of typing them each time: a cleaning fee, a staffing charge, an after-hours surcharge, a damage waiver.
Creating one
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | What appears on the invoice line |
| Type | Flat amount or percentage |
| Value | The amount, or the percentage |
| Description | Optional detail for the invoice |
Using them
Attach a service fee to an invoice and it becomes a line item. Percentage fees calculate against the invoice subtotal.
Not the same as payment service fees
Two different things with similar names:
| Where | What it is | |
|---|---|---|
| Service fees (this page) | On the invoice | A charge for something you provide |
| Payment service fees | Settings → Payments | A fee on the payment method itself |
A cleaning fee belongs here. A 3% card fee belongs there.
Worth setting up
Anything you type onto invoices more than a few times a year. Beyond saving the keystrokes, a named fee appears consistently across every invoice — which means it can be reported on, and "how much did we take in cleaning fees" becomes a question with an answer.
